Still Performing at Pestapora 2025, Barasuara Reveals Their Reasons

Amidst the uproar of the sponsor controversy that caused dozens of musicians to withdraw, the rock band Barasuara took a different stance. They chose to continue rocking the Boss Stage at Pestapora 2025, Gambir Expo Kemayoran, on Sunday (7/9/2025) afternoon. However, their performance this time was not just an ordinary music show, but rather a strong statement.

Iga Massardi, the vocalist and guitarist, used the stage as a medium to voice their concerns. He openly discussed the hot issue, namely the withdrawal of many performers due to the involvement of PT Freeport Indonesia as a sponsor.

"We will not pretend that everything is normal and will not pretend that everything is just fine. Because based on the issues circulating out there up to the massive lineup withdrawal yesterday," said Iga in front of the audience.

Barasuara expresses respect for fellow musicians who choose to withdraw. However, they have strong reasons to continue performing. For them, the primary loyalty is to the audience who have purchased tickets.

"The reason why Barasuara is not withdrawing is because we stand by our friends who have purchased tickets, we do not serve Pestapora, we do not serve Kiki Ucup, we serve you, the ticket buyers," Iga asserted.

"You who have helped us this much because without you, we would not be on this stage. And also, we do not serve PT Freeport Indonesia," added Iga.

As a tangible expression of their stance, Barasuara made a surprising announcement. All the honorariums they receive from their performance at Pestapora 2025 will be fully donated to environmental preservation movements.

"The fee that Barasuara receives from performing at Pestapora will be donated to Music Declares Emergency, which works in the field of ecology and environment," announced Iga Massardi.

During their performance at Pestapora 2025, Barasuara performed a series of their hit songs that were enthusiastically received by the Storm Riders. Among them are Guna Manusia, Pikiran dan Perjalanan, Merayakan Fana, Samara, Mengunci Ingatan, Pancarona, Bahas Bahasa, Api dan Lentera, Etalase, and concluding with Terbuang dalam Waktu.
