“This song tells the story of someone reminiscing about their breakup with their ex in July. That's why the title of this song is chosen to be 'July',” Hanif explained.

For Hanif Andarevi himself, the word 'Juli' in this song has a quite unique meaning.

“It's not intentional to make a song titled 'July' and release it in July. This song from Kak Raguel Lewy does tell a story about a failed relationship in July, and coincidentally it was released in July. Because it's almost similar to songs with titles of other months, this is a quite personal and unique story from the songwriter that I have to master,” he added.

The song "Juli" was written by Raguel Lewy, a songwriter who also wrote two hits by Mawar de Jongh, "Sedang Sayang Sayangnya" and "Lebih dari Egoku", two songs that were quite popular in late 2019 and early 2020.

After careful consideration, Trinity Optima Production finally decided that this song by Raguel Lewy would be performed by Hanif.

"Actually, this song has been around for a long time. However, we still couldn't decide who was suitable to sing it," said Simhala Avadana or Mhala, A&R of Trinity Optima Production.

This pop ballad song is arranged very lightly for music lovers in Indonesia. “Why did we finally choose Hanif to sing this song? It's solely because we wanted to explore Hanif's ability to sing his own original ballad song, and he successfully performed this song well,” added Mhala.

3. Show Another Side

Although very different from his first single, "Candu Sampai ke Nadi", Mhala believes that the song "Juli" is able to show another side of Hanif Andarevi that is liked by his fans. Even though he has often covered ballad songs, singing his own ballad song presents its own challenges for Hanif.

"The recording process of this song was overall enjoyable and challenging. Challenging because it's different from the previous songs. Ballad songs must be performed with emotions, even though I have never experienced it before," said Hanif.
