The AMI Awards Are Back, with Five Special Categories for the Team Behind the Scenes

Kapanlagi.com - The 28th Indonesian Music Awards (AMI) once again showcases the passion of the Indonesian music industry that continues to thrive. A total of 5,227 songs have officially registered to compete in this year's most prestigious music awards in Indonesia. This number reflects the extraordinary enthusiasm of musicians who never cease to create.

The registration process for works has been conducted online from May 27 to July 6, 2025. The eligible works are commercial releases from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The surge in the number of submitted works is a concrete proof that Indonesian music practitioners continue to be productive amid the dynamic challenges of the industry.

The Chairman of AMI, Candra Darusman, expressed his appreciation for the spirit of the musicians. According to him, this fantastic number of registrants indicates a great enthusiasm to continue producing quality works.

"The spirit of creation among musicians remains strong, despite the evolving challenges of the music industry," said Candra Darusman at the Nomination Announcement event for the 28th AMI Awards 2025 held in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (13/10/2025).

1. Bring a New Theme

In this edition, the AMI Awards 2025 carries the theme "Bhinneka Tunggal Suara". This theme was chosen to reaffirm that music is a universal language capable of uniting all differences, whether in terms of culture, genre, or generation.

"This theme reflects the spirit of unity through melody and rhythm, while also celebrating the musical richness of Indonesia that arises from differences yet blends into harmony," said Candra.

2. Musicians' Trust Increases

One of the categorization judges, Syaharani, also highlighted the increase in the number of works submitted. She emphasized that this figure is higher compared to previous years, indicating a growing trust among musicians in the credibility of the AMI Awards.

"Indeed, this is continuously increasing, which means that musicians' trust in submitting works to the AMI Awards is rising, which is great. This year is even cooler than last year," revealed Syaharini.

3. Five New Categories Out of a Total of 65 Categories

In total, there will be 63 award categories presented at the AMI Awards 2025. Among these, there are five special categories aimed at the professionals behind the scenes, namely Best Sound Production Team, Best Album Graphic Design, Best Music Video, Best Record Producer, and this year's new category, Best Vocal Arrangement.

4. Tribute to the Roles of Many Parties Behind the Scenes

Candra added that the introduction of this new category is a form of tribute to the important role of a vocal arranger in a music production. According to him, the quality of a song is not only determined by the singer but also by the hard work of many individuals behind it.

"Music is not just about what is heard on the surface, but also the hard work of many individuals behind the scenes," he emphasized.

5. Support From the Government

Full support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia further solidifies the position of the AMI Awards as a barometer of national music development. For 28 years of consistency, AMI continues to be a platform for musicians to grow and gain appreciation.

"For 28 years, AMI has consistently been a platform for the development of Indonesian music, providing space for a new generation without forgetting its pioneers," concluded Candra.

6. To Be Held on November 19

The peak night of the 28th AMI Awards 2025 is planned to be held on November 19, 2025.
