The Return of Emo Unit from Bandung For Revenge Through 'Jeda'

Kapanlagi.com - for Revenge (fR), an emo unit from Bandung, currently consisting of Boniex (vocals), Chimot (drums), Izha (bass), and Arief (guitar), has released their latest single on (12/2) on various digital streaming services and in lyric video format on the Didi Music YouTube channel.

The single titled Jeda marks two important milestones for fR. The return of Arief Ismail on guitar, following the departure of two guitarists, Prass Goldinantara and Cikhal Nurzaman, and the beginning of fR's collaboration with Didi Music, a record label that has made a name for itself in the Indonesian music industry since 2018 with notable releases.

“The end of 2021 has been a challenging year for fR. We poured all our losses into this single, Jeda,” explained the vocalist, Boniex Noer.

1. Successfully Avoiding Stereotypical Traps

Heartbreak remains the theme carried in this single Jeda. It cannot be denied that this theme is still a "wet" commodity in the Indonesian music industry.

However, fR successfully avoids stereotypical traps in the lyrics of this single Jeda. Good literacy and appropriate word choices make the message in this single Jeda far from being tacky.

2. The story behind the song 'Jeda'

Boniex, the vocalist of fR (for Revenge), himself tells the story of the song Jeda, which is one of the endings of a very complex relationship.

"Jeda is about a very complex ending of a relationship. An ending that started with a mistake will also end with a mistake. Why Jeda? Because something very heavy is being passed, sometimes requiring a pause. Reflecting for a moment, and then moving on," Boniex explains the meaning of this song.

3. Becoming More Majestic

From a musical perspective, the return of Arief Ismail (guitar) who had briefly left the band in 2020 brings back the fR DNA. Simple guitar riffs become more majestic when filled with choir and orchestra, making the message in this song deeper, as I did in Serana (2020) and Pulang (2013).

“The message in this song will be more explicitly depicted in its music video,” added Boniex. Currently, fR is busy working on the music video for this single, which will be released soon.

4. Bridge to the 4th Full Album

Jeda then becomes a bridge to fR's 4th full album. This album will be released by Didi Music Records in the middle of this year.
