Upset with T-Koes' Behavior, Family Bans Performing Koes Plus Songs

Kapanlagi.com - The Koes Plus Family explains the background of the family's decision to prohibit the T-Koes music group from performing Koes Plus songs.

According to Singgih Tomi Gumilang, the legal representative of the Koes Plus Family, the issue arose not only because of royalty issues, but also because of the dignity and reputation of the Koes Plus Family.

"The background, to be honest, is not only about royalties but also about the dignity, reputation, and honor of our parents," said Tomi in South Jakarta, Thursday (29/9/2023).

One of the reasons for the prohibition, according to Tomi, is that the Koes Plus Family felt offended by a conversation between T-Koes and a retired member.

"One of the triggering factors is the feeling of offense due to the circulation of a video allegedly involving a retired member with T-Koes," he said.

1. Uncomfortable Family

Actually, it's not just that moment that makes the Koes Plus extended family uncomfortable with T-Koes' actions.

"The family feels uncomfortable with some of T Koes band's behavior, which in this case greatly offends the dignity and honor of the Koes Plus extended family. However, we cannot reveal it based on the privacy of the Koes Plus family," he said.

"Initially, we tried not to care, this is an accumulation and the peak is in that video," added David.

2. Only T-Koes is Prohibited

As a result of this issue, the Koes Plus extended family finally forbids T-Koes from performing Koes Plus songs. However, the family does not prohibit other music groups that preserve Koes Plus music from performing their parents' songs.

"We emphasize that only T-koes band with ADSM, FAA, GAB, and JQAG formations are prohibited from performing Koes Plus works, while Koes Plus preserver bands are allowed as long as they prioritize norms and administrative order legally," he said.

"We urge all Koes Plus preservers, both in Indonesia and the world, to enjoy our father's songs. You can model them however you want. If you have your own fanbase, we won't disturb you, but don't involve our family in comparisons that you are better than our father, that's it," added Sari Koeswoyo.
