The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD), General TNI Andika Perkasa, confirmed that Serda Aprilia Manganang is male. This information was only discovered after a medical examination in February 2021 at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta.

"When he was born, he had a reproductive system disorder, hypospadias," said Andika at the Army Headquarters, Jalan Veteran, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/3/2021) as quoted from Liputan 6.

The medical examination was eagerly awaited by Serda Aprilia. Because since she was little, she claimed to feel a difference between herself and other women.

"Actually, this reproductive system disorder occurs quite frequently, even ranking second in the number of cases commonly occurring for the birth of baby boys. According to data, for every male baby born, there is one who has a disorder. Or four people out of every thousand male births," he said.

He is currently undergoing further examination at RSPAD Gatot Subroto. The examination includes measuring testosterone hormone levels, urology, and MRI.
