Kominfo Extends Social Media Platform Registration Until 6 Months

Kapanlagi.com - Minister of Communication and Information Regulation (Perkominfo) Number 5 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Private Electronic Systems requires all PSEs to register with the government. The registration period starts on May 24, 2021.

Under the regulation, all private PSEs such as TikTok, YouTube, and others are required to report to the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo), including any changes in the information structure. Failure to report may result in access being terminated and they will not be able to operate in Indonesia.

1. There are 1,052 Companies

Currently, there are already 1,052 domestic and foreign companies that have registered PSE in Indonesia according to the Director General of Information Application at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel A. Pangerapan. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, there are around 600-700 companies.

The registration of this Private PSE is done through the Online Single Submission - Risk Based Approach (OSS-RBA)/Risk-Based Business Licensing System through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system managed by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM. The OSS-RBA system is planned to be effective on June 2, 2021 as quoted from Tirto.id

2. Until December 2021

"So, the deadline for private PSE registration in PM 5/2020, which was previously set for May 24, 2021, is adjusted and extended for a maximum of six months (December) since the effective implementation of the OSS-RBA system," said Samuel through an online discussion.

The provisions of these changes are regulated in the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Regulation Number 10 of 2021 concerning Amendments to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Regulation Number 5 of 2020.
