Malang City Prepares Transition Period Before Implementing New Normal

Kapanlagi.com - Malang City is preparing a transition period before entering a new way of life or New Normal. This adaptive period will be a test and measure of the readiness of residents to live a new life amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I emphasize that this is not loosening. On the contrary, it is being tightened in relation to the Covid-19 protocol. Our hope together is that we can start the process of reviving the economy and daily activities normally," said Sutiaji, Mayor of Malang, on Thursday (28/5).

The public must discipline themselves by wearing masks, maintaining distance during activities, disciplining hand washing with soap, exercising, and sunbathing in the morning. Every business place, workplace, business, and trade must comply with the standard Covid-19 protocols.

1. 7-Day Transition Period

The transition period or adaptive plan is planned for 7 days after the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) end. The adaptive period provided by the East Java Provincial Government will be an assessment report.

"If there are still many people who are indifferent, ignore, and do not want to know, as simple as not wearing masks, then all of that (New Normal) can be canceled. Eventually, we will not be able to freely carry out activities because there will definitely be stricter measures again," he emphasized.

2. Commitment to Discipline

Sutiaji said, it is time to show the alignment between the desire and the commitment to discipline. Because during this time, the government has been listening to the complaints of the people who cannot work, their income continues to decrease, and others due to the inability to carry out activities.

"The government hears that. The government is looking for solutions by making maximum efforts to suppress and break the chain of Covid-19. So, I emphasize again, if we want to carry out normal activities, let's balance it with compliance and discipline in implementing rules related to Covid-19," he stated firmly.

3. PSBB Until May 30 Ends

Monitoring and enforcement operations during the transition in the field continue to be carried out because it will also be a benchmark for the extent to which public awareness has been awakened and become a daily habit.

The coordination results of the Malang Raya Regional Government (Malang City, Batu, and Malang Regency) together with the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, have decided that PSBB will end on May 30, 2020. Malang Raya itself has been implementing PSBB from May 17 to May 30, 2020.

The Regional Government (Pemda) is preparing a Mayor Regulation and a Regent Regulation for the implementation of the New Normal. The Governor of East Java has given a week's time for the transition period before entering the new normal.
