Kapanlagi.com - Do you know or have you at least heard of the term probiotics? That's right, probiotics are microbes that are usually contained in food products as a complementary nutrient compound.
However, along with innovation, technology, and evolution that occur in many sectors, it turns out that probiotics can be used for other purposes. Probiotics are used as a perfecter of hygienic products for household cleanliness.
How can that be? The answer can be found in the Indonesia Hygiene Forum 9th webinar organized by Unilever Indonesia on April 20, 2022. In this webinar with the theme "Understanding Probiotics in Hygiene Products in Household," it thoroughly discusses probiotics that have extraordinary benefits as hygienic cleaning products.
Not sparingly, this webinar presents a number of big figures as speakers, including the Director of Production and Distribution of Pharmaceuticals at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Dra. Agusdini Banun Saptaningsih, Apt., MARS; Professor at Bina Nusantara University/President of the Indonesian Scientific Society for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISSPP), Prof. Ingrid S. Surono, MSc, Ph.D.; Director of PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk. Reski Damayanti; Product Development Manager - Home Care Category PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk. For those of you who missed the excitement of the 9th Indonesia Hygiene Forum webinar, let's take a look back at the connection between cleanliness and probiotics.
With its availability in food and now in cleaning products containing probiotics, many people still do not realize its definition and function for humans.
Therefore, Professor Ingrid S.Surono, MSc, Ph.D., a Professor at Bina Nusantara University and President of the Indonesian Scientific Society for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISSPP), who was present at this webinar, explained what probiotics are. He said that WHO & FAO agreed to define probiotics as living microorganisms that coexist with humans. "Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when given in adequate amounts, will provide health benefits to their host. Probiotics are currently consumed by humans, animals, livestock, and many more," said Ingrid. Ingrid explained that microorganisms cannot be completely separated from daily life. Research and innovation need to be carried out to utilize these microorganisms for the benefit of human life. "We need to be wise and realize that there are good and bad bacteria around us. That's why we need to conduct in-depth research to be able to utilize good bacteria, one of which is probiotics," explained Ingrid.
Cleanliness is a fundamental issue that every human being should face. However, not everyone can get adequate education and treatment regarding cleanliness. This is what makes Indonesia still face the triple burden of disease or the three burdens of nutritional problems. This was explained directly by the Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Dra. Agusdini Banun Saptaningsih, Apt., MARS.
In her presentation, cleanliness, health, and the current pandemic situation in Indonesia have contributed to the increasing number of conditions that make it difficult for the community.
"Indonesia is still facing the challenges of the Triple Burden of Disease, including stunting, wasting, and obesity, which have led to the increase of non-communicable diseases and become the main burden in healthcare financing," said Agusdini.
To address this issue, Agusdini stated that the government has provided education, one of which is the Household Health Supplies (PKRT). It can be said that PKRT is a mandatory starter pack that must be available in every household for human health maintenance and care.
"Household Health Supplies (PKRT) can come in the form of cleaners, tissues, cotton, fragrances, antiseptics, and so on," continued Agusdini.
The good news is that the innovation regarding the benefits of probiotics, apart from food, is now available in Wipol Bioshield, which offers a range of benefits compared to other cleaning products. This was stated by Kuspremati Berlinestri, Product Development Manager - Home Care Category at PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk.
Kuspremati explained that Wipol Bioshield is an innovation that has been developed for a long time by combining insights from consumer needs and a commitment to providing better cleaning products to the community.
"Everything starts with input from consumers who want the best cleanliness products for their homes, especially during a pandemic like now. Based on that input, we are committed to implementing science and technology to turn ideas into reality. This has resulted in the latest innovation from Unilever," said Kuspremati.
The development of Bioshield Protection is based on natural probiotic technology applied to Wipol. Unlike regular cleaners, Bioshield is able to kill 99.9% of germs. In addition, Wipol Bioshield is also able to prevent the growth of germs and prevent allergies for up to 3 days. Interestingly, this product is also effective in cleaning dust, dirt, and allergy-causing fungi.
A trusted brand is one of the front lines in maintaining family health. This is also realized by many people. Not without reason, the growth of children to the Corona virus pandemic needs to be anticipated by maintaining cleanliness. This webinar also featured the Founder of the Halo Ibu Community, Ashtra Dymach. For a mother, Asthra said that the presence of the most advanced cleaning products plays a role as an assistant for mothers in maintaining family health. "As a mother, we are the gatekeeper of family health. So we must protect our children and homes by using quality cleaning products like Wipol Bioshield," said Asthra. The cutting-edge innovation presented by Wipol Bioshield Probiotic is one way to maintain family health while at home. So, make sure you don't choose wrong, KLovers.
