Kapanlagi.com - The month of Ramadan 2025 is approaching, and the spirit of Muslims around the world to observe fasting is growing. This holy month is not only known as a time full of blessings but also brings changes to daily routines, including the study schedules of students in Indonesia.
Like in previous years, the issue of school holidays during Ramadan is once again a hot topic among the community, students, and educators. However, this year there is an interesting proposal from the government suggesting a full month of school holidays during the fasting month.
So, what exactly is the policy that will be implemented in 2025? The relevant ministries have provided various updates to satisfy public curiosity. Check out the complete explanation below.
Based on the circular that has been issued, students will receive a holiday at the beginning of Ramadan. The early fasting holiday is given for five days, from Thursday, February 27, 2025, to Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Although it is called a holiday, students are still expected to engage in independent learning with guidance from parents and the educational community in their environment.
After this holiday period, teaching and learning activities will resume at school according to the academic calendar set by each region. The school re-entry schedule after the early fasting holiday will begin on Thursday, March 6, 2025, and will continue until shortly before Eid al-Fitr. Here are the details.
Although there is no full month holiday, based on the Joint Circular (SEB) regarding Learning in the Month of Ramadan 1446 H/2025 M, students will receive holidays at the beginning of the fasting month and leading up to the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Here is the student learning calendar for Ramadan 2025:
February 2025
March 2025
April 2025
The idea of a full month holiday for school students during the month of Ramadan was first presented by the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Romo Muhammad Syafi'i. The government, through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, is formulating policies related to this matter.
However, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that the policy scheme implemented is "learning during Ramadan" instead of a full holiday. "We use this policy term not as a holiday but as learning for students during the fasting month of Ramadan," he stated as quoted by ANTARA.
The government had considered three policy options for school holidays during the month of Ramadan:
Unlike general schools that continue to operate, Islamic boarding schools have set a holiday for their students during the holy month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, madrasahs and schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs are still awaiting an official decision from the relevant ministry, waiting for certainty to welcome this blessed month.
After celebrating Eid al-Fitr, students will return to the world of education on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, after enjoying a meaningful holiday of more than two weeks.
Now it’s time for them to readapt to the established learning rhythm, while remembering the government's message to utilize the holiday time with activities that can build positive character.
Thus, it is hoped that the balance between academic achievement and personal development will be maintained, welcoming a bright future.
No. According to the Joint Circular Letter (SEB) of 3 Ministers, students will continue their learning activities at school, with the exception of holidays at the beginning of fasting and before Idul Fitri.
Students will have the Idul Fitri holiday from March 26 to April 8, 2025, totaling about two weeks.
Students will return to school on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Yes, students are expected to continue self-learning at home, places of worship, or community centers according to assignments from the school.
Some regions implement a reduction in study hours during the fasting month, but this policy depends on the decisions of the school and local government.
