Jovan Zachary, a Surabaya man, instantly became viral because he is now a soldier in the United States. His portrait while serving as a soldier immediately sparked discussions among netizens in the country. It is known that the salary of an American soldier can reach hundreds of millions. Becoming a soldier in the United States, initially Jovan only intended to study in Uncle Sam's country. He revealed this through a report by VOA.
Even Jovan admitted that he couldn't speak English at all. He used to work as a restaurant waiter before finally trying to enlist in the US Army.
This 21-year-old man is actually of Indonesian descent born in the US and holds US citizenship.
Jovan admitted that he was interested in joining the US Army because he could benefit from things like school allowance, health insurance, housing, daily meals, and fitness expenses.
Jovan said that a soldier at his level could earn around Rp 575-718 million per year. Of course, this is equivalent to hard work and responsibility.
Jovan is now ranked E4 (Tamtama) after two years of officially being a soldier in the US Navy. Nevertheless, Jovan still wants to pursue his dream of studying and becoming an engineer in America.
