PRT in Malang Breaks Employer's Safe, Takes Rp 200 Million and Diamonds

Kapanlagi.com - TS (58), a domestic worker (PRT) in Malang, broke into his employer's safe. The perpetrator took at least Rp 200 million in rupiah and foreign currency, along with a number of jewelry items such as diamonds and gold.

Kasat Reskrim Polresta Malang Kota, Kompol Danang Yudanto, said the incident was discovered when the victim's sibling informed that the perpetrator had fled from the house or workplace on April 2, 2024. Due to suspicion, they then checked the safe where the valuable items were stored. The safe itself was located inside the victim's room.

"When checking the safe, the victim's Rp 200 million and valuable items such as diamonds, rings, and gold necklaces were already missing," said Kompol Danang Yudanto, Kasat Reskrim Polresta Malang Kota, on Monday (15/4/2024).

1. Arrested in Hotel Room

The victim had checked the CCTV in his house, but it was damaged. The victim reported to the Malang City Police and the Malang City Police Criminal Investigation Unit visited the crime scene for investigation purposes.

TS was arrested in a hotel room in Blimbing District, Malang City on April 2, 2024. The perpetrator was staying at a star hotel while waiting for a bus ticket to another city.

2. Evidence of Rupiah and Dollar Currency

From the perpetrator's possession, the officers secured evidence such as Indonesian Rupiah, Yen, Won, US dollar, Australian dollar, Singapore dollar, Thai Baht, Malaysian Ringgit, and Brazilian Real. Some jewelry items such as gold necklaces with pendants, silver necklaces, gold and silver bracelets, gold and silver rings, and gold earrings were also confiscated.

"The suspect secretly took the original safe key and easily opened the victim's safe," he explained.

3. Seven-Year Prison Threat

The suspect himself is from Tasikmalaya and had previously left before returning to work for the victim.

The suspect has been named a suspect and is being held in detention at the Malang City Police Detention Center. The suspect is charged with Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code regarding Theft with Violence (Curat) with a seven-year prison sentence threat.
