Raihan Jouzu Syamsudin, a student from SMPN 57 Surabaya, has successfully made an extraordinary innovation. He managed to convert waste onion skins into environmentally friendly marker ink.

Raihan was able to collect up to 3.12 tons of onion skins from 25 partners consisting of markets and neighborhoods around the city of Surabaya. Curious about Raihan, who has this brilliant idea?

This project started when Raihan participated in the 2024 Prince and Princess of the Environment Award event.

"In the production process, garlic skin is roasted until it becomes a natural black pigment before being mixed with a binding agent to make it into marker ink," wrote IG @cretivox, on Tuesday (18/11).
