School Student Bullies Almost Had Finger Amputated, Bullying Perpetrators in Malang City Being Investigated by Police

Kapanlagi.com - The perpetrators of bullying against their schoolmates in Malang City are being investigated by the police. Investigators are questioning witnesses from the complainant or victim's family, as well as seven children suspected of being the bullying perpetrators.

Kapolresta Malang Kota, Komjen Pol Leonardus Simamarta, stated that they have taken statements from three witnesses, including the complainant, the victim's aunt and uncle. The investigators also specifically requested statements from witnesses who witnessed the bullying from students in the same school.

"Three witnesses have been questioned, including the complainant, the victim's aunt, and the victim's uncle. Today, we will question the students who are suspected of being the perpetrators of the assault. There are seven perpetrators," said Komjen Pol Leonardus Simamarta at Mapolsek Lowokwaru Polresta Malang Kota, on Monday (3/2).

Specifically for the examination of underage perpetrators, it will be conducted using certain methods as stipulated. Investigators also scheduled to request testimony from school authorities.

"For the victim, until now, let them undergo trauma healing until they recover. What is certain is that we will protect the victim, there is psychological assistance for trauma healing," emphasized Leo.

MS (13) is undergoing treatment at Lavalette Hospital in Malang City after being a victim of severe bullying by his school friends. The victim, who is in 7th grade, suffered bruises and swelling on the fingers, arms, back, and legs. The victim is also traumatized by the incident.

"We will compare the results of the examination with the forensic examination, there are injuries on the hands, soles of the feet, back of the hands and back, arms, all bruised," he explained.

2. Undergoing Treatment

The bullying case occurred on January 15 and became a topic of discussion after the victim's video went viral on social media. The video shows the victim writhing in pain on a hospital bed due to the injuries.

Until now, the police are investigating the case by questioning witnesses who are believed to have knowledge of the incident. If there is sufficient evidence, it is possible that the suspects will be identified.

"There has been a criminal incident related to the Child Protection Law. Despite any reconciliation or other matters, we, as investigators, are fully focused on the victim's recovery, both physically and psychologically. Secondly, we consistently want this to be processed first, to determine the legal process. Who did what, based on witness testimonies and forensic results, we know the criminal incident," said Leo.

The school itself claimed to be unaware of the bullying incident until the video went viral and gathered attention. The school then facilitated a meeting between the parents of both parties in an attempt to reach a peaceful resolution.

When contacted, the Malang City Education Office also stated that the case was a result of excessive joking. One of the victims was reportedly injured by the buckle of the perpetrator's belt while in the school's prayer room.
