Viral Kristina Fails to Join Paskibraka - Rafael Malalangi Declared Not Passed Now Accepted at the Police Bintara Education

1. Kristina Fails Paskibraka

Kristina is a 16-year-old girl who had to let go of her opportunity. She was born and raised by her parents who work as farmers in the village of Salutabang. This SMAN 1 Mamasa student failed to represent West Sulawesi Province as one of the members of the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibraka) on the 76th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day on August 17, 2021.

The story goes that before she flew to the State Palace, she had to undergo a PCR swab test. It turns out that the test results showed that she was positive for Covid-19. However, in a social media post by Melkisedek Takatio, Kristina's cousin's brother, several anomalies were mentioned.

One of them is the PCR swab test results conducted by the West Sulawesi Youth and Sports Office. The family was puzzled as to why Kristina, after being declared positive for Covid-19, was sent back home only in a rental car and did not receive any assistance such as personal protective equipment (PPE). Then Kristina took another PCR swab test and was declared negative for Covid-19.

Furthermore, the person who replaced Kristina was not a substitute from the Pasangkayu area but another student from Mamasa.

2. Response from the Ministry of Youth and Sports

This news was directly confirmed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI), Deputy for Youth Development Asrorun Niam Sholeh. Asrorun stated that the PCR swab test is for the common good.

In addition, Asrorun added that it is all within the authority of the province. This is in accordance with Ministerial Regulation Number 14 of 2017, where the selection of National Paskibraka candidates is fully entrusted to and carried out by the provinces.

"The appointment of national Paskibraka candidates from each province is the full authority of the province, including their replacement. The replacement of Capasnas female representative from West Sulawesi, named Kristina, with Anggie Fricillia Tamuntuan, was carried out by the West Sulawesi Provincial Youth and Sports Office based on the consideration that Kristina tested positive for COVID-19," said Asroun to Diary Paskibraka Liputan6.com via instant messaging application (29/7/2021).

3. Rafael Tak Lulus Bintara

The next story comes from Rafael Malalangi who did not pass the selection test for prospective Bintara Polri 2021. Feeling cheated, his parents named Christofel Tumalun uploaded a video on Facebook addressed to President Joko Widodo and Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

It is told that his son, Rafael, from South Minahasa, took the selection test for prospective Bintara Polri 2021. The announcement was broadcasted virtually and watched directly by the entire community of Pinapalangkow Village.

Rafael was announced to have passed at that time and his family celebrated his graduation. Unfortunately, there was suddenly surprising news that the family received a letter stating that their child did not pass and had been replaced by someone else.

On July 23, 2021, Rafael and his family were invited to Mapolda North Sulawesi. Mapolda stated that they had experienced technical errors in the announcement and assessment. As a result, the quota became limited and Rafael had to be declared unsuccessful.

4. Accepted to School

Rafael can smile again after receiving happy news that he has just been accepted into the Indonesian National Police Academy. This was conveyed by member of the Indonesian Parliament, Hillary Brigita Lasut.

"Congratulations, Rafael. Congratulations on your extraordinary achievement. Thank you to the Chief of Police and the Head of the Professionalism and Security Division for quickly responding by adding a quota for Rafael, and Rafael will start his education in February.
