Suspended Governor of Jambi, Zumi Zola, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison. In addition, he is also required to pay a fine of Rp 500 million or serve 3 months in jail.

"The defendant has been proven guilty of committing corruption crimes together," said the chairman of the panel of judges, Yanto, at the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Thursday (6/12/2018) as quoted by Liputan 6.

This sentence is lighter than the prosecutor's demand of 8 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp 1 billion or 6 months imprisonment.

Zumi Zola himself has violated Article 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 Jo Article 55 paragraph 1-1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code Jo Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.

The prosecutor also accused Zumi Zola of bribing the leaders of the Jambi Provincial DPRD for the 2014-2019 period regarding the approval of the Regional Budget for the Fiscal Year 2017.

Zumi 'showered' each member of the DPRD with Rp 200 million, the Budget Agency with Rp 225 million, and each member of the commission received Rp 375 million at that time.

For this bribery, the former Regent of Tanjung Jabung Timur is accused of violating Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 Jo Article 55 paragraph 1-1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code Jo Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
