The cleaning and searching process is focused on the 8th floor of the building because the 9th floor has collapsed and been destroyed. The Acting Head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, Satriadi Gunawan, stated that the officers faced difficulties in conducting a quick evacuation due to the unstable structure of the building. The search process was temporarily halted on the afternoon of January 20 due to darkness and rain, but resumed on January 21. In total, there are 8 body bags being identified at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. In the midst of the search process, a last video allegedly belonging to the fire victim circulated, in which he asked for help amidst thick smoke.
