Kapanlagi.com - Two female climbers from Indonesia, Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono and Elsa Laksono, passed away due to hypothermia and Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) while descending Carstensz Pyramid or Puncak Jaya in Central Papua on Saturday, March 1, 2025. They were part of a group of 20 climbers who successfully reached the summit at an altitude of 4,884 meters above sea level on February 28, 2025, one of whom was the musician Fiersa Besari. However, during their descent to Base Camp Yellow Valley, the group faced extreme weather conditions including snowfall, heavy rain, and strong winds. Here is the chronology.
