In 2023, Salwan burned a Quran in public, outside the Stockholm Mosque. His actions were condemned by many around the world, especially by Muslims. The act also triggered a number of disturbances in Sweden. He was arrested by local authorities and put on trial.Salwan was also reported to be awaiting his next trial, but while he was live on TikTok at his home in Sweden on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Salwan was shot dead. He was shot just hours before his trial in Stockholm. Following the incident, police arrested 5 suspects believed to be involved in Salwan's shooting.
