Katrina Kaif made her film debut with the movie Boom in 2003, but she considers Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya as the key to her success in Bollywood. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Katrina said that this film directed by David Dhawan is very meaningful to her. “It is very important to make newcomers feel accepted, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya did that for me,” she stated.

Katrina recalls shooting the film as a fun experience, even though she did not immediately feel great success. “My first success didn’t feel real. What’s more important is to keep moving forward and doing the work I believe in,” she said. She also added that, although she was new to the industry, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan made her feel comfortable while shooting.

She expressed that the success of Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya is not surprising to her. “David Dhawan is a master of comedy. I am happy to be a part of the change he is trying to bring,” said Katrina. The film looks different from Dhawan's previous works, with a fresher new approach.
