"When I met him, Karan gave me his business card. I thought it was a hint and got very excited. I even planned when I would call: around 11:30 in the morning. So he would have finished breakfast and be ready to talk. The next day, I called the number he gave me. But they (the staff) said that Karan was not in the office. The day after that, I called again, and they said he was busy. And finally, my bubble burst when they finally admitted to me, 'We only work with stars, and we cannot collaborate with you,'" wrote the 35-year-old actor.

Eleven years after the incident, Karan Johar invited Ayushmann Khurrana to the show Koffee With Karan that he hosted. During the question and answer session, Ayushmann mentioned about his phone call that was not received by Karan.

Casually, Karan replied that when he gives his phone number, it means he sees potential in Ayushmann. "I gave you the correct phone number. That's the sweet side of me. It means I see potential in you," Karan said as quoted from Hindustantimes.com.

Ayushmann then replied that he had hoped to work with Karan. However, unfortunately, his wish was not fulfilled.
