Kimberly Ryder finally returns to the big screen through her role as a journalist in the film BANGSAL ISOLASI. The film, produced by Mesari Pictures and JP Pictures, marks Kimberly's comeback after a hiatus to focus on taking care of her children and being a housewife.
Kimberly expresses her love for the art of acting and states that she could never truly leave it behind.
With her children now grown up, Kimberly feels ready to return to acting.
"Yes, this is a film with thriller, action, and mystery genres. I want to make a comeback because I love the world of acting. And now that my children are older and can be left behind, I am ready to start shooting again," she said when met at XXI Epicentrum, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday (18/7/2024).
"I haven't been shooting for a long time. I only shot a few scenes for a film. This can be considered as my comeback," said the mother of two.
Kimberly didn't hesitate when offered a role in her latest film because she was interested in the story's setting.
According to her, the setting of the story in a women's prison is something new in Indonesian cinema.
"Initially, I was sent the synopsis and I was really interested because the shooting and the set are in a prison, a women's prison.
So it seems like there hasn't been anything like that in Indonesian cinema yet, so I immediately wanted to take it," Kimberly explained.
In this film, Kimberly plays the character Weni, an investigative journalist obsessed with uncovering the mystery of her sister's death, Ratna, at Ratu Adil Prison. Ratna's mysterious death drives Weni to disguise herself as a prisoner to reveal the truth.
Inside the prison, Weni is confronted with the harshness of prison life as well as intrigues and dangers that threaten her.
She gathers pieces of information that indicate a major conspiracy behind the prison walls.
The film BANGSAL ISOLASI also stars Wulan Guritno, Ibrahim Risyad, Piet Pagau, Rowiena Umboh, Dafina Jamasir, Niniek Arum, Ryan Deye, Evelyn Aurora, and Hanisah Halim. Directed by Adhe Dharmastriya, this film is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 25, 2024.
