21 Years Have Passed, 7 Photos of AFI Participants Reunion Still Known by the Public Until Now

The participants of Akademi Fantasi Indosiar or AFI apparently managed to leave a nostalgic memory for their loyal viewers back then. Even after 21 years, some AFI 1 participants are still known by the people who watched their performances on TV in the past.

That's what Ismail Rojali and Icha Wuwungan felt, two of the contestants from AFI season one. When met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (20/3), Icha and Ismail shared their experiences of being approached by strangers while being in public places.

Ismail said that there were people who even memorized the AFI storyline at that time. There were even those who claimed that the AFI show left sweet memories because it became a favorite show to watch with loved ones.

"Yesterday, I was just breaking my fast and suddenly someone called me 'kak Smail', maybe if that person knew we were here, they would definitely be hysterical," Ismail Rojali said.

"He also mentioned that he remembers the elimination dates in detail. We have our own social media and channel, we read the comments and it turns out that we live in many dimensions and there are those who say that this was my favorite show with my late father," he continued.

In addition, Icha Wuwungan also felt the same way. According to her, the audience who watched them back then really remembered every moment of the first season of AFI, as evidenced by someone thanking her for the interesting show at that time.

"If I ever met someone in a cafe and they wanted to say 'thanks because my childhood was happy watching you', I was like wow, we did something that still has an impact until now," said Icha.

Not only that, even when Icha is doing activities, she is often stopped by strangers who think she looks familiar. She also often mistakes people who recognize her face when she was still a participant in AFI.

"Yes, there are still people who say 'why does your face look familiar?'. Because now I also teach and sometimes someone suddenly approaches me, and recently a salesperson stopped me thinking they wanted to negotiate a product, but it turns out they asked 'Are you Icha from AFI?'," she added.
