5 Chronologies of Jerinx SID's Walk Out from the First Trial, Initially Marked by Heated Debate

Kapanlagi.com - On Thursday (10/9), Jerinx SID attended the first trial for the alleged hate speech case he committed at the Denpasar District Court, Bali. On that occasion, the agenda was the reading of the prosecutor's demands from the Public Prosecutor's Office (JPU).

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the trial was held virtually following the health protocols according to the Ministry of Health's guidelines. Unfortunately, Jerinx's first trial did not go smoothly. When the prosecutor explained, Jerinx SID interrupted.

"Putus-putus Your Honor. putus-putus," said Jerinx SID.

1. Unable to Hear the Prosecutor's Statement

The Prosecutor's Office then repeated their statement for Jerinx SID. However, it seems that Jerinx and his lawyer insisted that they couldn't hear the prosecutor's voice from the virtual screen.

"Did you hear it?" asked the Chief Judge.

"No, Your Honor, we didn't hear it," answered the lawyer.

2. Tense Situation

The situation then became quite heated shortly after. It started when one of the prosecutors tried to verify the truth of Jerinx's and his party's claim about the unheard voice.

"We cross-checked with those in the room to see if the voice was indeed intermittent there, or if it could be heard clearly," said one of the prosecutors.

Hearing that statement, Jerinx's legal counsel replied in a high tone. "Who are you to cross-check, prosecutor? It's intermittent here, everyone knows it's intermittent," he said.

The Prosecutor's Office responded again. "Our colleague was there to prove it," said the prosecutor.

3. Jerinx SID Walk Out

Until a certain moment, Jerinx finally lost patience. He chose to walk out and leave the courtroom.

"Your Honor, I as the defendant refuse to have an online trial, if forced I choose to leave. Thank you," said Jerinx SID as he walked out of the room followed by his 12 lawyers.

4. Still Read the Indictment

Although Jerinx and his legal team walked out, the prosecutor's office still read the indictment against the drummer of the band Superman Is Dead.

"On June 13, 2020, and June 15, 2020, against IDI, causing IDI to feel very insulted and hated by some Indonesian society and suffered both material and immaterial losses due to the status post," said the prosecutor, Otong Hendra Rahayu.

"The defendant's actions are regulated and punishable under article 27 paragraph 3 in conjunction with article 45 paragraph 33 of Law number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE in conjunction with article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code," he continued.

5. Session Postponed

Due to the unfavorable situation, the session has been postponed until September 22, 2020. Later, the prosecutor's office is required to bring the defendant as it should be.

"Bringing the defendant is the obligation of the prosecutor's office, so I order that they be present at the next session," said the judge.
