Asri Welas candidly shares her experience undergoing a series of beauty procedures in South Korea. She admits she is serious about it, as it involves a total of three procedures at once: liposuction, facelift, and tummy tuck.
The main reason Asri underwent these procedures is not just for appearance. According to her, it is closely related to the demands of her profession as an actress who often appears on the big screen. /far
"Actually, it's about improving, like there is indeed a change in appearance, such as my tummy tuck, because there is a film that requires good looking and that is what I need too," said Asri Welas when met in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (15/4/2025).
She emphasizes that the procedures carried out have nothing to do with beauty trends alone. Asri asserts that everything is purely done for the needs of the role and visual framing.
"I’m not adding anything, just reducing the existing fat for the frame's needs, so everything is for the profession. If I were behind the scenes, I probably wouldn’t need to do that. But since I'm in front of the camera, actually if it's not necessary, I shouldn't do it," she said.
Nevertheless, the decision to undergo this procedure has been carefully considered. She also ensures that everything is done with the permission and support of her family. "But I need it and it's safe, with my family's permission too, so it's okay for me to go ahead," said the woman born on March 7, 1979.
Asri also realizes that her physical changes might surprise the audience. However, she emphasizes that she is still Asri as she has always been known, not someone else. "Don't suddenly let Asri Welas become Sophia Latjuba, that would be confusing. I often get roles that are never pretty, always awkward," joked the mother of three.
The issue regarding the surgery costs incurred by Asri also became a hot topic on social media. There are reports stating that the total expenses she incurred reached Rp 450 million. "Who said that? Netizens, right? Aamiin, because I hope that with the improvements, the calling will still continue," she said.
Furthermore, Asri mentioned that the decision to undergo surgery is also related to her vision of living life. She feels that she now understands her life's direction better and wants to take responsibility for the future, especially for her children.
