"If asked again, some might say, 'Uya Kuya, why is your recess abroad?' Uya Kuya's recess in Jakarta has been over since December 30, there has already been a report, the recess is finished. This is something you all don't know, Uya Kuya is from Dapil DKI II, which means South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and abroad," explained Uya when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (21/1/2025). 

Uya also revealed that he has the highest number of voters from abroad compared to other DPR members. According to him, this is the reason he visits regions abroad to meet with his constituents.  

"What is abroad? It means that everyone who is abroad chooses me, and it's not arrogance or pride, the fact is Uya Kuya is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) with the highest votes from abroad. So if tomorrow you see me in LA, NY, in Finland, Malaysia, in Hong Kong, don't be envious, it's really my electoral district, I can visit my voters there, those who voted for me there," said Uya.  

Another issue that has emerged is the accusation that Uya is more busy creating content for social media than working as a representative of the people. Responding to this, Uya emphasized that he continues to perform his duties as a member of the DPR, although he cannot escape his celebrity status. "Well, we are indeed artists, we are from the DPR but we are artists. I ask, are there any DPR members now who don't create content? There are none. DPR members create content, artists create content, netizens also create content," he stated casually.  

Regarding the viral content in Los Angeles, Uya explained that the video was not made to seek money or popularity. He emphasized that platforms like Instagram or TikTok do not provide income from regular posts, except through the live streaming feature on TikTok. 

"As far as I know, the only money is from TikTok live. If we post on Instagram and TikTok, do we really earn money? Of course not. People say I’m just looking for likes and views. I, Uya Kuya, am no longer looking for viewers, it’s them (netizens) who are still looking for viewers," Uya said firmly.  

He also emphasized that he is not bothered by netizens' jeers. As a public figure who has long been involved in the entertainment world, Uya admitted that he is used to facing negative comments. "People say I’m just looking for likes and views, but I’m not looking for that anymore. If they (netizens) are still busy looking for viewers, just let them be," he continued.
