The departure of legendary comedian Nurul Qomar leaves deep sorrow, especially for his family. Soebagja Salim, one of Qomar's sons, shared the touching moment when he accompanied his father in his final moments.

"I was there in the final moments, 30 minutes before he took his last breath, I was by his side," said Soebagja when met at TPU Carang Pulang, Tangerang Regency, Thursday (1/9/2024). Here are the details.

He admitted to accompanying his father in the ICU until his last breath. With full love, Soebagja tried to comfort Qomar through whispered prayers and the sentence of the Shahada.

"I accompanied him in the ICU room. I whispered the sentences of the syahadat to Abah, helping Abah to rest peacefully," he continued.

The departure of Qomar also left behind a number of big dreams that have not yet been realized. One of the dreams often expressed by the late was to establish a Sundanese art school. "There are many because Abah has many aspirations, has many dreams. But the one that is repeated the most is that Abah wants to create a Sundanese school," Soebagja revealed.

Qomar had a grand vision to preserve Sundanese art and culture. He aspired to establish a karawitan school that could be accessed for free by the community. For Qomar, Sundanese art is not just about entertainment, but also rich in life values.

"Father wants to establish a free karawitan school for people to learn Sundanese art, because he is indeed passionate about it," explained Soebagja.

However, more than just art, Qomar wants the values of Sundanese culture to be passed on to the next generation. For him, Sundanese culture contains deep lessons that need to be understood more broadly. "But actually, it's not just art, but the values of Sundanese culture. Well, that might indeed need to be studied again for the children because we know about art, but the values of Sundanese culture need to be deepened," he added.

When asked if the family intends to continue Qomar's dreams, Soebagja admitted that each child has different interests. Nevertheless, they strive to understand and preserve their father's legacy. "Yes, of course, everyone has different interests," said Soebagja briefly.
