Comedian Narji has decided to enter the world of politics by becoming a prospective legislative candidate (bacaleg) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The former Cagur member will fight to gain the votes of the people of Pekalongan Raya in the 10th electoral district of Central Java in the 2024 Legislative Election.
Narji, who has rarely appeared on TV, revealed the reason for running as a candidate for the Indonesian Parliament in 2024. Until now, the person with the full name Sunarji admitted that he has felt like a member of the Indonesian Parliament.Â
"All this time, when I go to the village, I'm not a candidate, but I feel like a candidate. I'm not a council member, but I feel like a council member," Narji said when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/9/2023).Â
"For example, if there's any problem, maybe people think that someone from Jakarta knows everything, 'hey, want to have a football competition, hey, want to create this, create that,' well, it's better to run for office," Narji added.Â
This father of two explains that he often provides assistance to the surrounding residents to the best of his ability. He sits together with the community to find solutions to the problems that the residents are facing.
"Some people asked for tractors too, about fertilizer issues, finally we looked for solutions together, so we decided to run for legislative elections together, with my wife's permission," he said.
From there, Narji said that many residents have high hopes for him to become a candidate legislator. And many of them will provide full support, making the husband of Widianti determined to step into the world of politics.
"They also have high hopes for me personally, maybe as an artist, no matter how popular, my words are not heard enough. But if I am in the government circle, maybe my voice can be heard more. When I asked 'but will all of you support me?', 'we are ready to support you', so I decided to run," he concluded.
