"10 rooms, in Yogyakarta. Thank God this month until 6 months ahead is already full. But if there are any vacancies, DM me. Haha," said Amel Carla while laughing when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Monday (19/5/2025).

Amel mentioned that the property business she is running was initially just an experiment with her mother, but it has now grown rapidly. Her boarding house is in demand by many students due to its strategic location and adequate facilities.

"Why property? Because of my mom. Because moms are usually involved. And coincidentally, I once played the role of a landlord's child, so we decided to really open a boarding house. It turns out it's really fun, guys, to run a boarding house. A bit stressful, but it's okay," she explained.

Yogyakarta, according to Amel, is a very ideal location to start a boarding house business. The student city is always filled with new students every year, so the demand for housing tends to be stable.

"So why in Yogya? Because Jogja is an education city and every year there are always new students. So, there will always be (those looking for boarding), because the city is busy. And I love Jogja," she added.

With high enthusiasm from renters, Amel Carla admitted she is increasingly motivated to expand her business. She is even considering opening a similar unit in another city.   "Honestly, I want to go to Jakarta and Solo because my dad is from Solo, so we’ll try Solo, hehe," she revealed.

For the expansion plan to Solo, Amel wants to present a more contemporary concept. One idea she is developing is to combine the boarding house concept with angkringan as a social interaction space for young people.   "I want to bring angkringan to young people as well. So we’ll just see later. If I open it, God willing, I’ll invite you," Amel said enthusiastically.

Although running a boarding house business, Amel Carla admits she is not very involved in technical matters and financial management. She fully entrusts that to her mother.   "Well, coincidentally I don't know because I just let it run, so yeah that's it," she concluded.
