The household life of artist and politician Sahrul Gunawan and Dine Mutiara began from a friendship that developed into a deeper relationship. They shared stories and found many similarities in their outlook on life.
"On duty, because we are friends. It started from various stories. About personal life, politics, anything connects. In the end, I decided, well, let’s go for it," said Sahrul Gunawan in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/13/2025).
According to Sahrul, the click they felt made the decision to move on to marriage feel natural. He believes that in life, everyone needs a life partner to walk together. "We need to have a life partner, and since we clicked, why not," he said.
As a couple married at an adult age, they approach their relationship realistically yet remain hopeful. Prayers play an important role in keeping the relationship harmonious. "Their prayer is always Rabbana hablana min azwajina qurrota a’yun. It becomes a prayer," said Sahrul.
Dine complemented that statement with the hope that their household brings goodness, not only for themselves but also for those around them. She hopes this marriage becomes the best version of both of them.
"Hopefully, it will be the best version of Aa at our wedding. May we love each other, respect each other, and support each other until we grow old," said Dine Mutiara.
This couple also realizes the importance of being a calming partner for each other. For Sahrul, Dine's presence has a positive impact on his personality.
"I feel like my impatience, emotionality, and irritability have slightly decreased. With Dine, it seems to have lessened, but just a little," said Sahrul.
Communication and understanding are the main foundations for them in building a household. For Dine, this relationship is a place to grow and complement each other.
"We can also be beneficial to each other, basically the best of US for this marriage, even though it's still 2 years, hopefully till Jannah," he concluded.
Sahrul Gunawan & his wife have started to think about the needs of their children who are currently entering an important phase in their education and development.
