Oya Abdul Malik, as Vadel Badjideh's legal representative, gave a sharp response when met after the trial at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (23/7/2025). He firmly questioned the source of the circulating information, considering the trial was conducted behind closed doors.
According to Oya, the accusation is unfounded because the party spreading it was never present in the courtroom. He is also reluctant to confirm the truth of the issue and chooses to question the credibility of the information disseminator."Who is the one saying that? Were they present in the courtroom?" said Oya Abdul Malik.
"The trial is closed, and since I was in the trial, they were not in the courtroom, so I don’t need to answer whether it’s true or not, they weren’t in the courtroom," Oya continued.
Furthermore, Oya also revealed his client’s reaction upon learning of the accusation. According to him, Vadel Badjideh was not affected at all. Instead of being angry or panicking, Lolly's boyfriend could only laugh.
For him, the accusation is very unreasonable and is only worthy of being laughed at. Oya even joked that not only Vadel would laugh, but also himself and perhaps other court officials if they heard it."Yes, just laugh because that statement is indeed laughable," he explained.
"It's not just Vadel who is laughing, I want to laugh too. Maybe the panel and the prosecutor are also laughing when they hear this, we are the ones inside who know exactly what really happened," added Oya.
The Vadel Badjideh party feels that they are not harmed by this issue. They consider it a joke and remain focused on proving the truth in the ongoing trial.
