Afgan Shares His Experience of Organizing His Own Concert in South Korea, Claims No One Invited Him

Indonesian singer, Afgan, recently held a concert in South Korea to promote his latest album titled SONDER. The concert, which took place at the ASSA Performing Art Hall in Seoul on June 29, became one of the precious moments in his career. Check out Afgan's complete story below!

When met in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta recently, Afgan shared the excitement of his struggle behind the concert. He explained that the concert in South Korea was entirely organized by him and his team, without any special invitation from outside parties.

"I did this entire tour by myself, you know. I mean, like, we organized it ourselves, nobody invited us but we created the event there," said Afgan.

The preparation process for this concert involves various stages that are usually handled by promoters. Afgan and his team take care of everything from visas, finding a band, to forming their own production team.   "We handle the visas ourselves, look for a band. Basically, we look for our own production team and the process feels like starting from scratch again," he said.

The concert titled Sonder Asia Tour received an extraordinary response. Afgan revealed that this concert experienced overcapacity with the number of attendees exceeding the venue's capacity.

"It turned out to be very crowded there, to the point that we were over capacity. That's how it was, a lot of surprises because suddenly the number of attendees exceeded the capacity of the place," he explained.

With more than 300 attendees present, about 60 percent of them were Indonesians, while the remaining 40 percent were local residents of South Korea. Afgan also felt touched because some local Korean fans admitted to learning Indonesian through his songs.

"I also met local Korean fans. They shared that they finally learned Indonesian from listening to my songs. It means a lot to me," he clarified.

Not only that, Afgan also invited Indonesian Kpop idol, Dita SECRET NUMBER, to sing with him on stage. Additionally, he also met Zayyan XODIAC, adding to the excitement of the concert.

The experience of holding a concert in South Korea is an important step for Afgan in expanding the reach of his music on the international stage. The album 'Sonder' that he is promoting is hoped to be well received by music lovers in various countries, including South Korea.
