Kapanlagi.com - The move by Ruben Onsu to visit the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is said to mark the beginning of further legal efforts regarding child custody issues following his divorce from Sarwendah. Through his lawyer, Minola Sebayang, Ruben expressed the possibility of filing for child custody in the near future.
According to Minola, the report to KPAI was made to request an assessment related to various issues deemed relevant to fulfilling the child's rights. The results of this process will be one of the considerations before taking the next legal steps.
"Yes, it is definitely because our first step among the many steps I mentioned is to KPAI. This is the first step before we move on to the next steps including the step to file for child custody," said Minola Sebayang at the KPAI Office, Central Jakarta, Monday (22/6/2026).
Minola explained that the plan for the lawsuit arose because various agreements outlined in Deed Number 39 are deemed not to have been implemented properly. According to him, this issue is one of the reasons Ruben's side is considering legal action.
"This week, if there are no obstacles, we will file (the lawsuit)," said Minola.

He added that all this time, Ruben has been trying to resolve the issue amicably. However, according to him, various communication efforts made have not resulted in the expected resolution.
"What Ruben prioritizes is an elegant way. It is already outlined in the Deed, just implement it. It has been politely requested, just implement it. And ideally, if there is indeed good faith, those children should not be in control because they are still minors," he said.
Meanwhile, KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono stated that they will first conduct an assessment of the report submitted by Ruben. KPAI also opens the possibility of mediation if necessary as part of the handling process.
"Certainly, part of it is KPAI's task to mediate, but the stages must be carefully considered. We conduct assessments from various parties," said Aris.
