After Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo Rumored to Join 'GUNDAM' Live Action

Quoting from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Noah Centineo is reported to be in talks to join the live-action film GUNDAM produced by Sunrise and Legendary Pictures. The actor is currently known to be filming the movie STREET FIGHTER produced by Legendary. Therefore, this discussion could lead to a collaboration between the two. According to THR's report, this project is a big-budget adaptation focusing on giant mecha robots.

Previously, Centineo was confirmed to play Ken in the new live-action version of STREET FIGHTER by Legendary. If the deal for GUNDAM is finalized, he will be alongside Sydney Sweeney, who has been rumored to be involved since March. At that time, Sweeney was said to be in the final negotiation stage for the lead role in this project.

For reasons of sensitivity, Legendary declined to comment on the negotiations with Centineo. Previously, they had discussions with Drew Starkey for the male lead role. However, those talks did not reach an agreement.

In January, Bandai Namco Filmworks and Legendary Pictures signed a joint investment agreement to work on this film. Deadline reported that Bandai Namco Holdings USA Inc. also established a subsidiary named Bandai Namco Filmworks America on April 1 to strengthen foreign licensing ahead of production. This move is part of a major preparation supporting the making of the live-action film.

Jim Mickle is reportedly appointed as the director and screenwriter of the GUNDAM film. Mickle is known as the creator of the series SWEET TOOTH. He is also said to be producing the film alongside Linda Moran. Several other names such as Makoto Asanuma, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, and Naohiro Ogata are also already listed as producers in the early development of this GUNDAM live-action project.

GUNDAM itself is an anime franchise that first aired in 1979 and has become one of the biggest icons in the history of Japanese mecha. Its story is set in the Universal Century era, a time when humanity moved to space colonies due to the increasing population on Earth.
