Kapanlagi.com - Musician Ahmad Dhani finally spoke out about his statement that caused a stir by calling singers 'thieves' if they performed songs without the creator's permission. In front of the public, he directly expressed his apology during a debate forum in Jakarta.
"Now listen, I want to apologize, this is in public, okay? I want to apologize to the singers I called thieves for not asking for permission," said Ahmad Dhani when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (10/4/2025).
The apology was made while Dhani was involved in an open discussion with Rayen Pono and Kadri Mohamad. The event was held to discuss the management of music royalties in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta.
"I apologize to the singers I called thieves for singing songs without permission," Dhani stated.
Although he has apologized, Dhani admitted he is still looking for a more appropriate term to describe the act of performing a song without permission. He hopes to receive input from netizens so that in the future he will not use terms that are offensive.
"But I want to ask for comments from netizens. What is it called when you sing a song without permission? So that I can refer to it with a more accurate term," said Dhani.
