Almira Tunggadewi's Response to Having a Sibling, Once Resigned to Being an Only Child

The presence of Arjuna Hanyokrokusumo Yudhoyono brings a special joy to her older sister, Almira Tunggadewi Yudhoyono. For 17 years, Almira lived alone without siblings and had felt that her destiny was to be an only child.

Agus Yudhoyono (AHY) shared that Almira had a very positive response, although she initially felt a bit awkward. Now, his eldest daughter is very enthusiastic about welcoming the younger sibling she has long awaited.

This touching moment has become a turning point for Almira, who has longed for a playmate at home. AHY sees that his daughter is now much more mature in responding to the arrival of this new family member.

"I see that maybe at first she felt a bit awkward because she was used to being alone. She sees her friends with brothers or sisters who can hang out together when going out, while she was always alone. I am busy, Annisa is also busy. So at first, she certainly longed for a sibling," explained Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono when met by KapanLagi at Pondok Indah Hospital, South Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026).

"But he also understands that we both cannot immediately provide a sibling, until perhaps a certain point he feels 'Well, maybe my destiny is to be an only child,'" he continued.

Almira's resilience for over a decade as the only child is greatly appreciated by AHY. He feels that the presence of his son is the most beautiful gift for his eldest daughter, who is now starting to grow up.

"Of course, she was very surprised to hear the news that, God willing, she will have a real sibling this time. And with such a large age gap, she can become a sister who helps me and Annisa take care of her younger sibling, as she is becoming more mature," he said.

This birth also reminds AHY of the struggles of his wife, Annisa Pohan, who never gave up on having a child again. He feels that his wife's sacrifices are the main factor in the success of this birth process.

"On this happy occasion, allow me to share the good news from the extended family of AHY, the Yudhoyono family, that today or last night, our beloved wife, Annisa Larasati Pohan binti Aulia Tantawi Pohan, has safely given birth to our second child, a baby boy," he stated.

The Yudhoyono family now feels that their lives are much more colorful with a pair of children. AHY hopes that his son will one day have a strong knightly personality just like the name he bears.

"Every parent has prayers and good hopes for their children, as do we. Of course, in addition to expressing gratitude to Allah SWT, we also have good prayers and good hopes, including our desire to honor our ancestors," concluded AHY.
