Angga The Potters Earns Doctorate, Admits to Having Difficulty Paying Tuition Fees

His dissertation is titled "Compensation Model and Action Plan for the Productivity and Welfare Improvement Program for Indonesian Music Artists." He demonstrated consistency in balancing two realms that are often considered different: the music industry and higher education.

Behind this academic achievement, the guitarist of The Potters faced a challenging journey in his doctoral studies. He shared that the biggest challenge came from financial aspects, as he experienced difficulty paying tuition fees during the research process. He recounted this story to the media after his doctoral session.

"Wow, it's truly amazing. Truly amazing. I even told the Professor that I had difficulty paying tuition fees. My friends were looking for jobs so that I could pay the tuition fees," said Angga Rinzani, his full name.

According to Angga, that difficult moment actually brought him closer to the solidarity of his bandmates. The members of The Potters took action to help him find additional work so he could continue his studies until completion.

"My friends are fighting for me, you know. If you're in a band, that's how it is. And it's also rare for band members to want to pursue a PhD," he said.

He made this statement shortly after undergoing an open defense at Y.A.I. University.

2. Reasons for Raising the Music Industry Issue

Angga explained the reason for choosing the music industry issue as the focus of his dissertation. This decision arose from a need he felt himself as a practitioner in the field, stemming from an urgency that emerged three years ago.

"This happened three years ago because the factor was actually urgency," said Angga.

In the process, Angga's research directly intersected with the situation that was widely discussed among musicians at that time, namely the case between Ari Bias and Agnez Mo. This condition forced him to adapt more quickly in gathering research data.

"Wow, it hit me right away. Initially, I just wanted to warm up, but I was thrown straight into the actual battlefield," he revealed.

3. Kiki The Potters Witness Angga's Struggle

The long journey of Angga was also witnessed directly by Kiki The Potters. He admitted to feeling the heaviness of the process that Angga went through until he officially earned his doctoral degree.

"I saw that his struggle was really exhausting. He truly attended classes, had to be online, had to meet with professors, had to discuss to determine his scientific work, and really had to find credible sources. Because until the journal is published, I might say, I admire Angga, I congratulate him, it's amazing," said Kiki The Potters.

Kiki expressed appreciation and congratulations for Angga's academic achievements, which involved the stages of studying and publishing journals.
