Arie Untung Just Realized the Great Pride of His Father After Remembering the MTV Audition Moment

"Wow, when it comes to memories, there are so many. He is indeed the first man I saw in the world. He was the one who carried me first, he has done the most for me," said Arie Untung when met by KapanLagi at the TPU Kampung Kandang, South Jakarta, Saturday (18/7/2026).

1. Remembering the Moment Dad Came to the VJ MTV Audition Location

Arie reminisces about the funny moment when his dad came to the VJ MTV audition location looking quite casual. His dad even proudly introduced himself to the committee as the father of one of the participants.

"I still remember back in the early days at MTV, there was a new VJ selection at one of the malls. Maybe because his shoes were dirty, he walked into the mall all messy and said to the committee, 'That VJ Arie is my son!'", said Arie.

2. Reprimanding Dad

At that time, young Arie reprimanded his dad for being embarrassed by his untidy appearance. But now he realizes the immense pride his dad felt behind that incident.

"He was so proud, but back then I told him, 'Dad, please don’t embarrass me here, clean your shoes first' you know. But now I see that was his pride, being brave enough to go on stage just to say that," said Arie.

3. Arie's Stage Name

Arie admitted that the name "Untung" which he has used throughout his career in the entertainment world is actually his father's real name. He hopes that this name can continue to bring goodness and become a charitable deed for his father.

"Oh, that's the difference, my dad is so proud. But it serves as inspiration for me to want the name to be used for good. Because the name Arie Untung is actually his name, not my real name, you know," said Arie.
