Aruma Makes a Guitar from Rattan as a Final Project at ITB, Achieves Satisfactory Grades in Class

Musician Aruma is a very creative young person. On October 27, 2025, Aruma graduated from ITB with a degree in Product Design.

Aruma graduated with cum laude honors. This achievement was earned due to her seriousness during her studies, including while completing her final project. She chose to make a guitar from rattan, which is unique and piques curiosity.

In this project, Aruma combines art, design, and music with a focus on exploring the acoustic characteristics of two guitar designs that use karuun rattan but with different constructions.

Aruma explains that this work is not just an academic project, but also a product that he can use directly on stage as a musician.

This rattan guitar is unique because it utilizes local Indonesian materials commonly used for furniture, namely karuun rattan, which is processed into veneer sheets.

Aruma made two guitars from rattan. Here is the final result, which is very beautiful; indeed, Gen Z ideas are unmatched.

"Sleeping soundly knowing I got the best final project grade in my class," wrote Aruma on Instagram, Monday (11/7).

"Today, one chapter officially closes.A chapter about struggles, exhaustion, and all the nights that felt too long. ITB taught me a lot about thinking, fighting, and making peace with the process. But above all, I learned to believe in time and myself," she explained further.

Aruma's existence as a singer in the homeland is beyond doubt. In 2023, she received an award from AMI as the Best Newcomer. Aruma has also performed at various music events.
