Asma Nadia Feels Disadvantaged by the Title of the Film 'AIR MATA DI UJUNG SAJADAH', Here's the Reason

Kapanlagi.com - Asma Nadia, who is the author of the novel Cinta di Ujung Sajadah, feels disadvantaged by the title of the film AIR MATA DI UJUNG SAJADAH. Asma feels that the film is similar to her novel published in 2008.

The film, starring Titi Kamal, is said by Asma to reduce the chances of Cinta di Ujung Sajadah being adapted into a film.

"I personally feel very disadvantaged by this incident. Because the novel Cinta di Ujung Sajadah, which was previously highly sought after by various producers, will become difficult to be filmed considering there is already a film with a very similar title," said Asma when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Monday (16/10/2023).

1. Already Contacted the Producer

Asma herself admitted to having contacted the film producer AIR MATA DI UJUNG SAJADAH, Ronny Irawan, to not use that title. She did this in July 2023.

"I told the film producer that the phrase 'di ujung sajadah' in the film title is exactly the same as the phrase in my novel's title," said Asma.

2. Received Suggestions

At that time, Asma mentioned that Ronny responded to her request. In his response, Ronny actually suggested to Asma to register the title of her book at Pusbang.

"He said 'my suggestion, Madam, create a PT company and register the title at Pusbang, Madam'. Closed with a folded hands icon," revealed Asma.

3. The Writer is Prepared to Lose Rights

Of course, Asma was disappointed with the response she received from Ronny Irawan. What she fears is that in the future, such actions will be considered normal and many will do the same.

"If producers believe they have the right to take any title that is not registered at Pusbang, then all writers must be prepared to lose their rights to titles, synopses, and others," concluded Asma.
