Asri Welas Apologizes to Her Children for Choosing to Divorce from Her Husband

"No one wants a divorce to happen. I apologize for disappointing my fans and friends. There are so many DMs asking, 'Why can't you hold on, Mbak Asri?' Why did the divorce happen? There is nothing good about divorce, don’t emulate us, but this is what we have to take," said Asri Welas at the Depok Religious Court (PA) on Tuesday (3/12/2024).

Asri also explained that this decision was made after facing various fundamental differences that could not be reconciled over the past four to five years.   "So there are principles that indeed cannot be united between Mas Galiech and Asri," he said.

He also admitted that this decision is a risk that they must bear as a family. Not forgetting, Asri expressed apologies to their children.   "I apologize that this had to happen, I apologize to Mas Imam, Ibran, and Gibran. But there is no such thing as an ex-family. We will always be mami papi to Imam, Ibran, and Gibran," he asserted.

Although no longer husband and wife, they are committed to being good parents to their children. When asked about the reasons for the divorce, Asri chose not to disclose the details.   "Let the story of the mistakes be a reflection for both of us. We are both at fault, we both have to acknowledge that this is not good, but it had to happen," he explained. Asri emphasized that even though they are separated, they will continue to fulfill their responsibilities as parents," he said.

On this occasion, Asri also emphasized that their relationship remains good as parents.   "Yes, as a father and child, as a mother," she said briefly.

The decision of Asri and Galiech to divorce indeed surprised many parties. All this time, the couple has been known as public figures who often share inspirational and educational content on social media. However, Asri hopes that the public can take lessons from their journey.   "Do not imitate, friends. Hopefully, we can continue to be a good family. Thank you very much," she concluded.
