The presence of world football legend, Gerard Pique, in Jakarta successfully created a stir in the entertainment and sports scene in the country. The former tough Barcelona defender surprisingly attended the Pendekar League event initiated by Atta Halilintar.

Who would have thought, behind Pique's warmly welcomed arrival, there is a unique story that began with an unexpected message on social media. All of this was revealed directly by Atta Halilintar at a press conference at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Rawamangun, Sunday (16/11/2025).

The husband of Aurel Hermansyah admitted that he was initially contacted by another Spanish legend, Carles Puyol. Atta never expected that the message would become a bridge connecting him directly to Gerard Pique.

"So I was shocked. I suddenly got a DM from Puyol, Carles Puyol DM'd me and said one of his friends wanted to meet, then suddenly I saw the DM from Pique. Wow!" said Atta Halilintar.

The father of Ameena and Azura added that the entire process went very quickly and spontaneously. Without complicated preparations, Pique suddenly announced that he was in Jakarta.

"When he DM'd me, I was immediately shocked and suddenly he was already in Jakarta like that. So, I didn't, I didn't have to prepare anything like this or that," recalled Atta.

Pique's arrival was not without reason. He saw great potential in the Pendekar League as a platform to find the best talents in Indonesia who will compete in his Kings World Cup event.

"We discussed with Atta when we first met that Pendekar League would be the perfect platform to select the best players from this competition to represent Indonesia in the World Cup," explained Pique.

On the other hand, Atta praised Pique's personality to the skies. During his time in Jakarta, Pique never asked for any special facilities or treatment that would be a hassle.

"So if asked for a request or he is very humble. He never asks for anything. Earlier, if we saw him take the headphones, he went down and took them himself," he asserted.
