Ayu Azhari's Actions in Defending the Nation, Opening a Business that Seeks Not Only Profit

In fact, in building her business, the star of the film 'Dream Obama' applies the concept of social entrepreneurship, where she not only seeks profit but also helps the social environment through her business as a form of patriotism.

"I have built several businesses, one of which is coffee. We train the workforce from farmers to marketing. Because it is to help coffee activists and also coffee farmers in Indonesia," said Ayu Azhari in the virtual event 'Ngopi Daring Bela Negara' initiated by the Ministry of Defense on Thursday (23/9/2021).

Similarly, with the fashion business she runs, Ayu admitted that she opened a fashion business with the intention of helping UMKM practitioners.

"I produce batik for affordable clothes, and the designer is my child. We produce a lot, then we sell them to boutiques in the market. So we don't use labels. Alhamdulillah, we don't make a lot of profit from selling, but it remains sustainable and others can also profit from it," said Ayu.

1. Tell the Spirit of Entrepreneurship

Ayu tells her spirit in social entrepreneurship that she obtained from the cultural figure W.S Rendra.

"So, I learned from him (the late W.S. Rendra) that we must be beneficial to the environment," said Ayu Azhari.

On that occasion, Dr. Dewi Motik Pramono, M.Si., a prominent Indonesian woman and also the initiator of the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI), was also present.

2. Including the Principle of National Defense

His central role in advancing Indonesia through his various works also includes the principle of national defense in every effort.

"As long as what I do benefits others, I do it directly because it is for the country," said Dewi.

Meanwhile, the Director of National Defense at the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan), Brigadier General TNI Jubei Leviato, emphasized that entrepreneurship for the progress of the nation is also part of national defense because it can increase employment opportunities that will boost the progress of a country.
