Azizah Salsha Forgives Two Reported Individuals Related to Hoax News, Reminds the Public to Be More Cautious in Using Social Media

Kapanlagi.com - Azizah Salsha has decided to forgive two individuals who are suspected of being involved in a defamation case and the spread of hoaxes related to allegations of infidelity against her.

Out of the 12 accounts reported by Azizah to the Bareskrim Polri, only two individuals have issued apologies, namely Andreas and N. Azizah hopes that this incident can serve as a valuable lesson for the public to be more prudent in using social media.

"I accept the apologies from Mr. Andre and also the reported individuals, and I hope this can be a lesson for all of us and certainly for the public to be more careful and wise in using social media," said Azizah Salsha when met in the Senopati area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (25/9/2024).

"Certainly to not get too involved in someone else's personal matters and to report news that may not necessarily be true. So hopefully this becomes a lesson for all of us and such incidents do not happen again," Azizah added.

Meanwhile, Azizah's legal counsel, Ega Marthadinata, explained that the report filed pertains to defamation and insult, specifically directed at Andreas and the mother of N.

"For brother Andreas and the mother of one of the reported individuals with the initial N, the report concerns defamation and the spreading of false news. However, specifically for Mr. Andreas and the mother of sister N, what we are reporting or the content involved in our report is defamation and insult," he said.

2. Restorative Justice

After further examination by the Bareskrim investigators, this case is deemed still resolvable through a restorative justice approach, a system that encourages problem-solving in a familial manner. Andreas and N, according to Ega, have shown good faith from the beginning, acknowledging their mistakes, and expressing sincere regret.

"From the start, Mr. Andreas and the mother of sister N have done various things in the context of showing very good intentions, regret, that something they did could offend someone and could defame someone's name," he said.

"They have done various things, contacting our side to talk in a familial manner. This good faith is what led us today to take the initiative to meet with Ms. Azizah to convey an apology. Alhamdulillah, Azizah, with humility," he concluded.
