Kimberly Ryder Explains the Reason for Her Separation from Edward Akbar to the Children: Mama and Papa Always Love You

"No, there isn't. I tried to call him (Edward) because the kids really wanted to call their dad, 'Mama, let’s try to call dad', okay, I called. But he didn’t pick up, he seems to have changed his number," said Kimberly at the Central Jakarta Religious Court on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

Although the children feel disappointed because they cannot contact their father, Kimberly tries to divert their attention. "Yes, they are disappointed, but I redirected them to other conversations, what do you want to do, what are we going to do," she said.

In addition, Kimberly explained that some time ago she felt the need to give an explanation to the children about her separation from Edward.

"I already explained about a month ago that it really needs to be explained to them, that mom and dad are no longer together, not together anymore," she said.

"We no longer love each other like we used to, but no matter what, mom and dad will always love you. Whatever happens, we will always, always love you. And the fact that mom and dad are no longer together is not because of you, it’s not your fault," she continued.

According to Kimberly, her children received the explanation well, although she realizes that they may not fully understand. "They were still nodding, so hopefully at least some of what I conveyed they understand a little bit," she said.

Kimberly also hopes that her explanation can help her children understand the situation without feeling guilty or wondering why their father is no longer part of their daily lives. 

"But it needs to be explained further in the future. At least they won’t be searching for him so much, they won’t be thinking 'where is dad, why isn’t he looking for me anymore', so it needs to be explained a little, that I and their dad are no longer together," she concluded.
