In June 2023, Babe Cabita was taken to the hospital. Initially, he was suspected of having dengue fever until leukemia. However, after further examination, it was revealed that the stand-up comedian was suffering from Aplastic Anemia, a disease in which the immune system attacks the bone marrow.
"Aplastic anemia is a disease caused by autoimmunity. Normally, the human immune system protects us from diseases, but my immune system attacks the bone marrow," Babe Cabita explained about his illness at that time.

Babe Cabita also mentioned that his condition has improved but he still continues to take medication. "So I have to take medication for the rest of my life, three times a day, and the pills are big," said Babe Cabita.
Babe Cabita mentioned that there is another alternative for his illness, which is to undergo a bone marrow transplant in Singapore. However, for now, Babe Cabita chooses to consume medication first.
"Now, Alhamdulillah, I have fully recovered. During this recovery, I have to maintain my immune system to stay stable. If I want to fully recover, the alternative is to go to Singapore for a bone marrow transplant. But for now, I'll stick to medication," said Babe Cabita in September 2023.
