Before Dying, Asmiar Yahya Tested Positive for Covid-19 and was Treated in the ICU

1. Tested Positive

Asmiar's third child, Yulia Yahya, said that before her mother's death, she was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

"Initially feeling unwell, about two weeks ago. Then our whole family felt unwell, so we decided to get PCR tests one by one, and the results were positive," said Yulia Yahya after attending her mother's funeral at TPU Malaka II, Pondok Kopi, South Jakarta, on Thursday (4/3).

2. Admitted to the ICU

Upon finding out that Asmiar tested positive for Covid-19, the family finally took her to Mayapada Hospital. Her condition worsened, and Asmiar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to Yulia Yahya, the positive Covid-19 result eventually affected her mother's lungs.

"So we treated her with the help of doctors from RS Brawijaya." Because mom collapsed, she was taken to Mayapada Hospital. At Mayapada, the doctor declared ICU, there mom was in ICU for covid. During that time, we still had video calls, we could always chat with the nurse, we were allowed to video call, sometimes one to four times a day. Because of her age and covid attacking her lungs, her lungs were very severe," said Yahya.

3. Already Declared Negative

After receiving treatment in the ICU room, Asmiar was finally declared negative for Covid-19. However, other diseases appeared. Finally, Asmiar returned to receive treatment in the non-Covid ICU.

"Mom collapsed, finally after a week there, okay we went for PCR, mom's result was negative. The doctor suggested that, because mom was getting worse, with infections and blood transfusions, until other diseases disappeared, move to a clean ICU, non-Covid," he said.
