"Yes, I also just heard the news that they are engaged. As their close friend, I am happy for them. Especially since Aal (Aaliyah's nickname), my close friend since childhood, is getting married," said El Rumi in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (16/5/2024).
El Rumi is mentioned as the person who introduced Aaliyah Massaid and Thariq Halilintar. El admitted that their introduction happened when Thariq Halilintar and Aaliyah Massaid had just finished watching a Dewa 19 concert.
"No, no (introduced them). So, at that time, I watched the Dewa concert with Aal and then later that night there was an event with Thariq," said El Rumi.
Then El explained that actually Aal didn't attend that event. However, he invited Aal. And so, an unplanned meeting happened, my dear KLovers. Well, destiny will always find its way, right?
At the event, El Rumi said that Aaliyah Massaid and Thariq Halilintar met. However, El didn't know how they eventually became close, started dating, and got engaged.
"No, they didn't. I didn't play matchmaker either. It just happened that I invited Aal to the same event where she met Thariq. I don't know if they already knew each other or not, but as far as I remember, that was their first meeting," she said.
As a friend, El is happy to see the journey of love between Aaliyah and Thariq, leading to their engagement.
"It's nice to see their love journey, especially when both of them are happy. Of course, as a friend, it's great to see a friend getting engaged," El concluded.
