Desy Genoveva has attracted attention as an artist with a strong Javanese Ngapak accent. This accent has become part of her identity in the entertainment industry after graduating from JKT48 group.
"I am indeed originally from the Ngapak region, I am from Cilacap," said Desy when met at Studio BSC, Cawang, East Jakarta, Tuesday (5/12/2023).
Desy has her own reasons why she chose the Javanese Ngapak accent as her identity in the entertainment world. According to her, the most logical reason is because she was raised in Cilacap, Central Java.
"The most logical answer is because this is my true self, using the accent that I have, my mother is from Cilacap, my father is from Jogja. I was actually born in Jogja but grew up and socialized in Cilacap," she said.
Because of her childhood in Cilacap, the 26-year-old woman feels confident using the Javanese Ngapak accent as her identity in the entertainment industry.
"Why aren't we confident with our local languages? Indonesia is rich in languages," she said.
Apparently, many fans are entertained by Desy's authenticity because of her strong Javanese Ngapak accent.
"They are entertained, maybe some are not confident in using the local language but it turns out to be a refreshing entertainment, not to mock the language but it becomes an entertainment," Desy concluded.
In addition to Desy, public figures who often use the Ngapak dialect include Cici Tegal, Parto Patrio, and Indro Warkop.
The Ngapak dialect or accent is called differently in each region. Some areas in Central Java that use the Ngapak dialect include Cilacap, Banjarnegara, Banyumas, Tegal, Brebes, and Batang.
Latest, Desy is involved in the comedy program Pesbukers with several other famous artists. They are Jirayut, Lady Rara, Ummy Quari, Sonny Septian, and Anwar BAB.
Pesbukers is scheduled to premiere on ANTV starting from December 13, 2023.
If there are no obstacles, the birth is estimated to occur in early May 2024.
