Kapanlagi.com - The news of the death of Glenn Fredly is a heavy blow to the entertainment industry in the country. As known, the journey of the singer of Januari in the Indonesian music world is filled with golden achievements. He has received various prestigious awards.
As known, Glenn has never suffered from any serious illness. Therefore, the news of his departure is so surprising to the public, as well as fellow musicians, such as Bens Leo, a music and entertainment observer in the country.
"Everyone was shocked. He was a young musician, and it surprised us that he was never sick at all. I am close to Bung Glenn, and two years ago, I proposed that he receive the cultural award, and he received it from the government. I remember clearly, he was very proud of that award," said Bens Leo when contacted by phone on Wednesday (8/4).

In 2018, Glenn received the Cultural Award for the category of Maestro of Traditional Arts as a creator, pioneer, and innovator. Bens also explained the reason why he chose the name of the Ambon-born singer along with a series of other legendary Indonesian musicians.
"Bung Glenn is the locomotive that gave birth to the first Indonesian music congress in Ambon in 2018. Finally, I proposed that he receive the award. We are very proud that Glenn received that award," he recalled.
Bens also spoke a little about the figure of Glenn that he has known. He also referred to him as someone who played a big role in the birth of the Music Law that caused a stir some time ago.
"He is a very cool person. We always communicate with Bung Glenn when there are cultural events. And he is at the forefront with Anang Hermansyah in initiating the birth of the Music Law. In the music industry, there is Glenn Fredly, there is me, there is Ahmad Albar, and others, which resulted in the Music Law in 2019 where Anang Hermansyah initiated its acceleration to become a law, but it was rejected by indie musicians. Bung Glenn was at the forefront at that time. He is a figure who has played a significant role in the development of Indonesian music and all the music that needs to be improved. Unfortunately, Anang is no longer in the DPR," Bens continued.

Glenn himself is part of Trio Lestari along with Tompi and Sandhy Sondoro. According to Bens, the trio will not be able to speak much in the music industry without Glenn's presence.
"Trio Lestari will definitely suffer a loss. They are individuals with good quality and good thoughts in the music world, all three of them. Without Glenn, Trio Lestari will have a hard time. I think Trio Lestari without Glenn is not Trio Lestari. Maybe they will use a different name if there has to be a replacement," he concluded.
